It's important to know that you will need to build a " Leather Crest" in order to claim ownership of your land which will stop other players from building on it. A leather crest will require a few leather / bone and wood. If you fail to build a crest then another player or guild can put their crest onto your building and conquer it within 20 minutes which will then allow them to rip down your entire home. Eventually you will want to build a stiff bed in the event you die and given the choice to respawn in your bed or the beach.
To protect your crest, build a two or 3 block high column. Once you place your crest on the column, build additional blocks around it until the crest is completely covered up above / below / to the sides (I strongly recommend cobblestone blocks). Go back into build mode to see your border. I strongly recommend that you build at least 5-6 squares back from your border to make it harder for other players to build tall stairs outside of your border in the hopes of jumping over your walls. Players that are focused on building a cobblestone ceiling do not have to worry as much as raiders will be unable to enter your home.
1. Gather enough rock to make cobble stone blocks. This material can not be damaged by regular weapons.
2. If you build your home of wood. I strongly recommend alternating every other layer as cobble stone blocks or higher tier building blocks can not be damaged by normal weapons. Raiders are unable to slip between a 1 block space.
2. If you place / upgrade a firepit to a furnace, you will need to make your walls 5 blocks high in order to create a ceiling that will cover over it and everything else.
3. Make sure your roof is built from at the very least, cobblestone blocks or higher as these materials prevent any general weapon damage.
4. Players that decide to build just walls and no roof should build their walls at least 6-7 blocks high and then create a "lip" outside by building blocks outward from their walls. I recommend at least 2 blocks out as this will stop players using the "human ladder" tactic to scale over a normal wall. Please note, this is very dangerous as if your walls are to close to your border, other players can build tall stairs with the hopes of jumping over your wall and into your home. This is why it is strongly encouraged for all players to create a roof.
5. Once you have built your home, I recommend you focus on building an "Iron Crest" so that you may replace the Leather Crest. The Iron Crest will increase your land ownership borders greatly and give you much more freedom of expanding your home.
6. I recommend that until you are able to build an "iron door" which is unpickable / unbreakable to normal weapons, that you keep an extra couple stone blocks on you to tear down and open a 2 block high hole in your wall to get in and out of your home. Otherwise, a raider can simply spend time beating down your wooden / reinforced door.
7. Once you are able to build an Iron door, I suggest your build an enclosed entrance in front of it and place a 2nd iron door. this will take a few seconds of your time to open up one, close it, then open up the other, however it provides a layer of security to ensure you can get in and out of your home with minimal risk of being raided while gaining entrance to your home.
If you have any questions, please message me or contact me in game for help.
Cheers!
